Welcome to High Peak Orchestra

The High Peak Orchestra was founded in 1975 as The Co-operative Orchestra and celebrated its 50th year in 2025. We are based in Whaley Bridge, although membership is drawn from a wider area, including Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

Come and See Us

We generally perform three per season in venues in the High Peak. Our repertoire ranges from Eric Coates to Sibelius, Borodin to Weber and we like to think we are ambitious in our programmes. We take part in the Buxton Festival every year and we have won acclaim and recognition.

Come and Join Us

The Orchestra is noted for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We normally rehearse on Monday evenings at the Mechanics Institute in Whaley Bridge, though due to its current renovations, we are rehearsing in the Uniting Reformed Church in Whaley Bridge instead.
We have vacancies for some string players, especially violins
We are always pleased to be given opportunities to perform for charitable organisations and glad to hear of new concert venues in the area.
